Our Story

It was the spring of 2015, our Founder Eric Calaway called the local groomer because he had two dogs that needed to be groomed. To his surprise, the groomer was so busy that he wasn’t going to be able to groom his dogs for three weeks! Since there were no other options, Eric reluctantly scheduled the appointment for 10:30 in the morning with the groomer in Richland.

Three weeks went by, Eric was busy at work in Pasco when his wife called him to remind him that the dogs needed to be groomed, the appointment was at 10:30, and she wasn’t going to be able to take the dogs in, so it was up to him. Eric got in his truck drove from Pasco to Richland, picked the dogs up and took them to the groomer. Once there, he was informed that they would be ready to be picked up at 3 pm. Eric asked if it could be 5 pm since he still had work, but there was no flexibility. The dogs had to be picked up at three. This meant he had to then drive back to Pasco, work on things while he could, Get back to the groomer in Richland by 3pm, pick up the dogs, take them back to his home, and then head back to Pasco to catch up on everything that he wasn’t able to get done since he was running dogs around all day. As he was making his way back to Pasco for the 3rd time that day, frustrated by the amount of time and headache it took to get his dogs groomed, he passed a mobile vet van. The light bulb came on! There needed to be a more convenient grooming solution for pet owners! there needed to be something that would be fast, flexible, and easy to work with. The pet owners of the Tri-Cities needed a mobile dog salon.

Eric Called his wife Jalyn and shared his idea, and they immediately went to work. Their first van was operational in May of 2015. The service was so popular that they had to add a second van in September of that year. Currently, there are 6 Vans operating in Eastern Washington that serve the cities of Richland, Kennewick, Pasco, Benton City, and Burbank. Mobile Pet Works has been offering stress free, cage free, convenient “we come to you” grooming services for the dog and cat owners in our area for nearly 10 years now! We are proud to provide a high quality service for dogs and dog owners by grooming pets close to their homes in a way that doesn’t burden their owners with the time and travel commitment.
