In the spring of 2015, our founder, Eric Calaway, faced a frustrating problem that many pet owners know all too well—getting a grooming appointment was a hassle.

With two dogs in need of a trim, Eric called the local groomer, only to find out that the earliest available appointment was three weeks away. With no other options, he booked a slot for 10:30 AM in Richland.

Fast forward three weeks, and Eric, busy at work in Pasco, got a call from his wife reminding him that she couldn’t take the dogs—it was up to him. What followed was an exhausting day of driving back and forth between Pasco and Richland:

• Dropping off the dogs at 10:30 AM
• Returning to Pasco to work
• Rushing back to Richland at 3 PM for pickup
• Driving the dogs home before heading back to work

As he made his third trip back to Pasco, frustrated by the wasted time and disruption to his workday, Eric spotted a mobile vet van. That was the moment the idea hit—why wasn’t there a mobile grooming service? Pet owners needed a more convenient, stress-free solution.

That same day, Eric called his wife, Jalyn, to share the idea, and they immediately got to work. By May 2015, their first mobile grooming van was on the road. The demand was overwhelming—so much so that by September, they launched a second van.

Today, Mobile Pet Works operates six fully equipped vans across Eastern Washington, serving Richland, Kennewick, Pasco, Benton City, Finley and Burbank. For nearly 10 years, we’ve provided stress-free, cage-free, full-service mobile grooming right at our clients’ doorsteps.
